Lanvin was founded in 1893 by Jeanne Lanvin who had opened up a small hat store in Paris 4 years prior. It is the oldest of all French haute couture houses, it gained quick success when it first opened, primarily offering hats, but also children’s clothing. She was inspired by her daughter, her muse, and created loose flowy dresses for her little girl. As her company grew and gained a lot of attention she adapted the designs for adults and expanded her lines.
